Coldharbour Systems was founded in 1986 and has been privately owned and financed throughout its twenty years of operation.
Initially providing financial management and reporting systems to the residential care market, Coldharbour Systems are now the undisputed market leader of software solutions for private and charitable care providers. Our HOMECARE systems are used by such reputable organisations as Southern Cross Healthcare Group, Four Seasons Health Care and BUPA Care Homes.

Domiciliary and Community Care
In 1993, and with the emergence of the domiciliary and community care market, many residential care operators began to extend their services to provide community health services, as well as institutional care. The largest private domiciliary care operators in the UK, such as Nestor Healthcare Group Plc, Housing 21 and Home Choice Care rely on our Domiciliary and Community Care system for efficient visit management as well as accurate and automated pay and bill calculations. Local Authorities using our solutions for their in-house domiciliary and community care provisions include Cornwall County Council and Oxfordshire County Council.

As we entered the millennium we found that many residential care operators were exiting the market to enter the children's nursery sector. As part of our vertical integration strategy, in 2000 we launched our Nursery Care product. Within just three years our systems were being used by 70% of the top ten nursery care providers in the UK including Asquith Nurseries Limited, Leapfrog Day Nurseries and Busy Bees.

In 2001, following a steady but continuous period of growth, Coldharbour Systems left their offices in central Bristol and moved to a beautiful converted farm overlooking the Mendips in 2001. The offices boasted purpose built areas for system consultancy, project management, support, software development and administration. However, one of the most significant benefits of our new premises was an area that had been developed as a group training facility, enabling our clients to receive initial and follow-up training in the use of our specialised systems.

By 2003 we had identified an increasing trend for domiciliary and community care organisations to provide multi-disciplinary services such as the provision of flexible care staff provision as well as home care from the same branch. Our Agency Care solution was developed in 2003 as a healthcare specific alternative to generic high street recruitment software and is now used by such operators as Nestor Healthcare Group Plc, Advantage Healthcare Group Limited and Celsian Health and Social Care.

Following a number of high profile mergers and acquisitions within the care market we saw the emergence of the 'super group' and a greater number of corporate operators requiring more sophisticated financial accounting for their businesses. In 2004, Coldharbour launched Coldharbour Financials, a SQL based corporate accounting product, under licence. We have undergone a comprehensive programme of development within the system, producing a truly healthcare specific, top level accounting system. Coldharbour Financials is now used by a range of operators within our market areas, including:
