Darren came to Coldharbour as a programmer after completing contracting work for an engineering company writing their in-house systems.  Initially specialising in the staff roster applications, Darren has seen the development department grow from a small team to over 20 staff members covering programming, testing, support and administration roles.  Given the role of senior developer, Darren was tasked with a supervisory position in the growing team.

In August 2006, Darren was promoted to Product Development Manager with the following responsibilities in addition to programming:

• Management of department resources
  Scheduling contracted programming work and testing as well as appointing programmers.
• Coaching and mentoring
  Ensuring awareness within the team of the company and its position in the market.  Communicating the importance of keeping to timescales and promote understanding of our quality control standards.
• Ensuring continued adherence to ISO standards
• Assist with functional specifications and requirements analysis
• Management of recruitment and appraisal processes
